Emily Musgrave is a contemporary artist based in Sheffield, UK. Her limited edition, Mallow, has been produced in collaboration with a local glassblower to create a series of 15 unique vases.
Working mainly in sculpture, Emily is interested in the tipping point of material abstraction and the subsequent changes to its surface through repeated reduction and reformation. Throughout her career she has continually returned to glass as a medium, combining it with materials such as paint, inks, window tints, hydrofoils, fabric, steel and makeup to create a palette that is unmistakably her own.
Learning traditional craft skills and specific methods of production, her works develop in such a way that they direct the next, occasionally revealing moments of trial, investigation and progress. Mallow combines several of Emily’s artisanal interests; bringing together a fascination of flower arranging, (both as a domestic tradition and as a systematic and spiritual study through ikebana) and the role of today’s skilled craftsmen.
The Mallow vases are made to order and take up to 4 weeks in production. Colours to be confirmed with the artist after placing your order.
