All of our ceramics are handmade from white stoneware clay at our studio in Sheffield. First, we throw a straight-sided cylinder, once it’s leather-hard, we “turn” it, carving the narrower portion of the pot and giving it a nice foot to sit on.
We finish with our hand-carved maker’s mark — the Labrador twig — and coat it twice; once in a black glaze and again in clear matte. The glazes react together during firing to give it the distinctive textural quality you see here and a beautiful smooth and satiny finish.
The black pot is available in two sizes — small and medium. With a different ‘tide mark’ from the clear glaze on each, they make a great pair.
